Background

I collaborated with the SPCA to create designs that serve to educate the younger generation on the importance of treating animals and pets with kindness, while also raising awareness of eco-friendly practices. As a result of this collaboration, two products have been developed: a handkerchief and an eco-friendly beverage bag.

Messages

The handkerchief features the slogan "When you ignore them, their lives fade." The muted color scheme of the design is intentional, serving to prompt individuals to prioritize the well-being of their pets over their own desires. Similarly, the eco-friendly beverage bag features patterns of a bulldog and the slogan "Wish the love of animals always grow with you," effectively reminding individuals of the importance of not abandoning their pets.

Handkerchief

The handkerchief is a practical and eco-friendly alternative to disposable paper towels, and it also promotes good etiquette. Its designs, featuring illustrations of dogs and cats, serve as a gentle reminder to users to value and care for animals. This product is well-suited to the intended target audience and has the potential to improve their overall quality of life.

Beverage Bag

In response to the growing need for environmental conservation and the reduction of plastic waste, the beverage bag is a recyclable product designed to replace non-environmentally friendly plastic bags. The variety of available designs, such as those featuring charming animals with simple yet stylish color schemes, is sure to appeal to a wide range of individuals and prove highly popular.

Procedure

Here show you the meticulous design process that was undertaken to create the handkerchief, from its inception to the final product.

01 Background

The initial stage of the handkerchief design process involved drawing ten horizontal and vertical straight lines to create a background.

02 Cats

This was followed by the meticulous depiction of physical characteristics of cats, such as their tails, fur, and paws. Cats have different postures, they look seem like laying on a handkerchief.

03 Dogs

This was followed by the depiction of the physical characteristics of dogs, such as their tails, fur, and paws.

04 Slogan

The next step is combining these images to form a pattern, which was then further refined with the addition of a slogan: "When you ignore them, they will fade".

Difficulties

As a first-time souvenir designer, I encountered several challenges during the design process, such as managing production costs and adhering to a tight production schedule.

Initially, the production cost exceeded the allocated budget, prompting me to persuade the manufacturer to secure a discount. As a means of reciprocation, I proposed including their company name as one of the sponsors on the promotion leaflet. Ultimately, I paid HK$100 to order a small quantity of parcels for display in the presentation.

Furthermore, due to the strict assignment deadline, any delay in production could result in a failing grade and jeopardize my graduation. To mitigate this risk, I maintained daily communication with the manufacturer to ensure timely production.
